Guns and Hoses 2010 "Get on the Bus" Blood Drive

Guns and Hoses Kick Off
7AM-7PM, July 14, 2010
Orlando City Hall
9AM Press Conference

On July 14 local firefighters, sheriff's deputies and police officers in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties will join forces to help us kick off this month-long competition. Orlando City Hall will be lined with Big Red Buses for the Guns and Hoses day-long kick-off blood drive. Police, fire and sheriff representatives will start the competition off and can bring friends and family members to "Get on the Bus" and donate with them. There will be local dignitaries and community leaders. You can help! You don't have to be a firefighter or law enforcement officer to be a local hero in your community. Stop by Wednesday, July 14 from 7AM-7PM at the Orlando City Hall and give the gift of life. You will be able to support your local

heroes by giving the gift of life and having your donation count toward either the Guns or the Hoses.

Also join us for a press conference at 9AM with Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, Dr. Tom Winters, an Orlando Orthopedic Specialist and his son, Nate Winters, whose life was saved by first responders and blood donors when he lost his leg in a boating accident.

The real winners of the competition will be the people who need blood transfusions here in Central Florida, since "getting on the bus" means saving lives. Florida's Blood Centers, the home of the Big Red Bus, is the sole supplier of blood products to all Central Florida hospitals.

Did you know? Florida's Blood Centers:

• Provides blood to 70 hospitals through the state
• Is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to

• Is ready and waiting WHEN YOU NEED US MOST!
