JOIN NOW AND BE A PART OF THE CELEBRATION!!

City officials, the Orlando Police Department and Orlando Fire Department, will participate in the 27th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3, 2010.

Any neighborhood, community group, church, sorority/fraternity, or Apartment/Condominium community is invited to contact the Neighborhood Watch Unit at the Orlando Police Department NOW to receive information on National Night Out 2010.

There is no cost to register. Once registered with the Orlando Police Department, local coordinators receive an organizational kit full of ‘how-to’ materials including planning suggestions, artwork, and promotional guides.

NNO 2009 involved over 36 million people in 14,625 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. The City of Orlando and the Orlando Police Department are pleased to announce that Orlando was once again selected as a National Award winner for its outstanding participation in the 26th Annual National Night Out crime, drug and violence prevention program. NNO 2010 is expected to be the largest ever. Once again this year, Target is a national corporate sponsor.

This community-oriented event, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch brings neighbors together for a crime and safety awareness night. Neighborhood Watch groups around the city will hold rallies within their neighborhood to increase crime awareness in their community. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement, and youth events.

Don’t delay!! Organizing in most communities begins early in the year. For free registration material calls the Neighborhood Watch Unit at 407-246-2369.
