Thank you for getting involved in our Crime Prevention fight. Our goal is to keep Orlando a safe city by reducing crime and maintaining livable neighborhoods. You will help us reach that goal one neighbor at a time.

Important Information

• All street closures are paid for by the Orlando Police Department if you apply before July 22, 2010. (Block Party Permit Info)

• Each National Night Out (NNO) organizer who submits a NNO Evaluation (Microsoft Word) by August 8, will be entered into a drawing for great prizes donated by Orlando businesses.

• A copy of the NNO invitation flyer and coloring sheet can be found here. Please use these to make as many copies as you need for your party.

New This Year:

Special attention will be given to those neighborhoods who are seasoned NNO participants and invite a new street or two to join their party.

“NNO Newbie Party Package” – we have a limited supply of free NNO start-up kits for blocks hosting NNO events for the first time. Your kit will contain cups, plates, plastic utensils, napkins, garbage bags and a table cloth. Make sure that you check the NNO Rookie box on your application. You may call 407-246-2369 to see if a kit is available.

NNO Planning Week – June 14 – June 20. Begin your planning early. This will prevent your group from feeling the last minute rush and will allow you to get more people and local businesses involved. Here are a few suggestions on what should be discussed during planning week:

1. How many people should we plan for? Who will get food, drinks, utensils, etc.?

2. What kinds of activities will encourage conversation and people getting to know one another?

3. What should we do for kids? Games, face painting, piñata, recognition awards for good things they’ve done, etc?

4. Should we have music? What kind and who will arrange for it?

5. Do we want to close the street? If so, who will apply (by the July 22 deadline)?

6. Should we make an invitation flyer? Who will do it? Who will get the flyers to the neighbors?

7. Do we need the flyer in more than one language? Which language(s) and who will do that?

8. What will we do if it rains?
