Local Parramore Kidz Zone Youth Provide Inspiration for
Amway Center Art
|
WHAT: |
Parramore Kidz
Zone youth will leave their mark on the City of
Orlando’s Amway Center in a joint public art
project. The design-build team overseeing the
public art installation for the Amway Center’s
parking garage, CT HSU +Architects and PCL
Construction Services, has contracted with
BOBOSART, an art consulting company based in
Orlando. Parramore Kidz Zone youth will provide
the inspiration by working with the artists to
create conceptual art. The concept will be
integrated into larger works of art created by
the professional artists for permanent display
in the parking garage elevator lobbies.
Modeled after the Harlem Children’s Zone,
Parramore Kidz Zone launched by Mayor Dyer in
2006, employs creative outreach to engage a
critical mass of Parramore’s children and
linking them to positive opportunities,
including pre-kindergarten education, parenting
education, health care, mentoring, tutoring, and
constructive activities when school is out.
