Division Description After-School All-Stars, formerly Orlando
Inner-City Games, was founded in response to the growing number of young people
across the nation living in poverty and facing the negative influences
surrounding youth living in unfortunate conditions. In 1991, Arnold
Schwarzenegger joined forces with Danny Hernandez, a youth center director in
East Los Angeles, and created an annual youth Olympic style sporting event,
known as the Inner-City Games. In 1995, the Inner-City Games Foundation (ICGF)
was formed, opening 15 chapters across the United States over five years
period, including Orlando, one of the first chapters.
