Canopy-Shade Trees

Oak Trees
Live Oak - Slow grower, very adaptable, mature height 40'-60'. Tolerant of city conditions. Broad spreading evergreen tree. Prefers full sun.
Shumard Oak - Moderate to rapid grower, very adaptable, mature height 40'-60'. Upright deciduous tree. Prefers full sun.
Nuttall Oak - Grows even faster than the Shumard Oak and is well suited for wet sites, mature height 40-60'. Upright deciduous tree. Prefers full sun.
Magnolia Tree - Slow grower, very adaptable, mature height 40'-60'. Large white flowers in March through May. Upright evergreen tree. Prefers full sun.
Elm Tree - The Drake Elm has a Moderate to rapid grower, mature height 40'-60'. Vase like deciduous tree. Prefers full sun.

Crape Myrtle - Moderate to rapid grower, deciduous, mature height 20'-30'. Flowers throughout the summer in a variety of colors. Prefers full sun.
Lil' Gem Magnolia - Slow grower, evergreen, mature height 20' -30'. Large white flowers. Prefers well-drained organic soils, sunny location.
Elaeocarpus (Japanese Blueberry) - Rapid grower, evergreen, mature height 30-40'. Small white flowers with small deep blue fruit. Leaves have bronze-red color on new growth. Prefers slightly acidic soil, well drained soil, sunny location.
