Parramore Heritage Park is located on both the
north and south sides of W. Church Street, just west of downtown
Orlando. The 6.85 acre site was developed in 2009 into an attractive
park surrounding storm water ponds that service the surrounding
neighborhood. Sidewalks popular with walkers encompass the ponds and
are lit by attractive historic-style light fixtures. A large clock,
ornate railings and landscaping are other beautiful features of the
park.
The City was the recipient of a State grant for
Parramore Heritage Park for two improvements, a monument and a
playground.
The monument celebrates the contributions local
leader, Reverend Nelson Pinder, has made since the 1960’s for all
people in the Orlando area. The monument is located on the corner of
W. Central Boulevard and Glenn Lane. It consists of a beautiful
lighted stone obelisk with inscriptions around the raised base.
The new playground is open to the public with a play structure, trees for shade, decorative fencing
to keep the children safe from traffic and the pond, lighting and
seating for caregivers to watch the children. It is located in the
southeastern corner of the park on W. Jackson Street.
Leashed pets
are allowed at all City parks, but not in playgrounds or athletic
fields. Please clean up after your pet.
