A two-alarm
fire started shortly after 7 a.m. in an apartment on the second
floor or The Grove Apartments on South Conway Road. While
responding, OFD Communications advised that they were on the
phone with a female caller who was trapped in her apartment with
4 children. On arrival crews were faced with a fire that had
already entered the attic space and jumped the breezeway
igniting a 2nd building. E11 & E1 crews worked quickly to push
the fire back and provided for Tower 1's inside team to locate
and remove the trapped occupants.
Aggressive
interior firefighting, combined with search and rescue, lead to
a positive outcome for the family. Crews were then able to make
a good stop on the forward progress of the fire, limiting the
damage to the rest of the structure.
