Orlando Fire Department Communications Division

The Communications Division of the Orlando Fire Department is a vital link between the citizens of Orlando and emergency services.  We strive to serve the citizens and visitors of the City of Orlando effectively and efficiently by providing assistance during an emergency.

The City of Orlando Fire and Police Communications Divisions are co-located in the Orlando Operations Center (OOC), which also houses Traffic Engineering and Emergency Management.

The Communications Division is comprised of a manager, assistant manager, radio technician, shift supervisors, and communications specialists.   Three shifts (7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am) 24 hours a day year round.  All communications specialists are certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers with the National Academies of Dispatch.  An intense training program ensures each specialist uses the proper protocols for handling emergency and non-emergency incidents.

The Communications Division fills a critical role in the emergency services division of the Orlando Fire Department.  The high demand for professionalism, knowledge, and quick response is met with every call to 9-1-1 and the men and women of the Communications Division are proud of the quality of care they are able to provide to the citizens and visitors of Orlando.
