M/WBE Reception for
Community Venues Projects
Who: Small and historically disadvantaged businesses include M/WBE's
What: An opportunity to learn about the contracting process associated with the community venues, network with other companies, and enroll in the Turner School of Construction Management.
When: April 29, 2008 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Varsity Club at the Florida Citrus Bowl, 1610 W. Church Street.
Why: This event kicks-off the process that will allow the City of Orlando to realize the first goal of its Blueprint, assist the development and support of small and historically disadvantaged businesses.
The Turner School of Construction Management is a 12-session seminar including purchasing and bidding procedures, pre-construction and estimating and cost and budget control. Teachers will include professionals overseeing the construction of the Events Center and the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center. Past business owners attending the seminar credit the course with improving their business acumen and taking their business from trade contractor to general contract.
