OPD Hosts Christmas Party and Shop with a Cop

OPD Hosts Christmas Party and Shop with a Cop PhotoOn Thursday, December 17, 2009, approximately 35 Orlando Police Department (OPD) officers participated in Shop with a Cop. Seventy local school children were chosen based on grades, good behavior and need. They were paired up with officers and allowed to purchase gifts for themselves or family members. This event was hosted by the Wal-Mart at 2500 South Kirkman Road. They generously donated a $70 gift card to each child. After shopping, the children were treated to snacks and given a goody bag to take home. The event was fun for the children and rewarding for the officers.

On Friday, December 18, 2009, the Orlando Police Department and the Parramore Heritage Bike Unit hosted a Christmas party at the Jackson Center for underprivileged children. Approximately 150 children attended the party. Several children attended that were not on the initial guest list, but due to additional presents that were provided by District 3 Commissioner Robert F. Stuart, these children and their families were able to be accommodated. All of the other gifts were provided by Orlando Police Department employees, City Commissioners, Pathways for Parramore and City Hall employees. A local law firm donated approximately 30 toys. OPD Officer Noah Pruitt played Santa and Officer Monica Only was able to get all of the food donated.
