Orlando Mayor Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner
Sheehan Work-Along with City of Orlando Parks Staff to Install Swan
Feeders in Lake Eola Park
WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan
will work together to install one of three new swan feeders at Lake Eola
Park. They will insert the feeder stands into pre-dug holes and pour
concrete around the stands to secure them in place. Next they will place
the feeders on the stands and fill them with swan food pellets available
for purchase by park goers. Two swan feeders will be located near the
playground area and one near the Ting Pavilion.
WHY:
Feeding swans and other water fowl the wrong food can make them sick,
cause diseases like Angel Wing and even result in death. These new
feeders are meant to provide park goers with a safe option to feed the
swans and other water fowl at Lake Eola. Other approved foods include
lettuce, any loose field greens, spinach leaves and duck pellet food
that can be purchased at any pet or feed store.
WORK-ALONG BACKGROUND:
As part of Mayor Dyer’s commitment to providing citizens with the high
quality service they have come to expect, he participates in work-alongs
with various City staff. Mayor Dyer has gone door-to-door with Orlando
Police Officers delivering valuable City information to residents in the
Parramore Heritage Neighborhood, picked up garbage alongside Solid Waste
employees and worked in the customer service and development review
areas of Permitting Services.
