FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE U.S. MAYORS TO CONVENE IN ORLANDO FOR 80th ANNUAL MEETING
OPENING PRESS CONFERENCE TO TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY,
ORLANDO, FL – Hundreds of mayors will convene in Orlando this week as
part of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), 80th annual meeting. An
opening press conference will take place on Wednesday, June 13, led by
USCM President Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and Vice
President Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. During the press
conference, mayors will discuss how cities are leading the way on issues
including: how to serve returning veterans, increasing exports and job
opportunities, preparing the future workforce and many others, as the
U.S. Congress remains gridlocked. ### The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are 1,210 such cities in the country today, and each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
