HUD SECRETARY SHAUN DONOVAN TO TOUR LOCAL“GREEN”
APARTMENTS FOR SENIORS

KINNERET II Apartments received $1.5 million HUD Recovery Act grant to provide “green” upgrades

(ORLANDO, FL) U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan will visit a senior housing development, Kinneret II apartments, on Tuesday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m., where he will tour the site and host a press conference. Kinneret II Apartments received a $1,572,558.00 grant awarded through HUD’s Recovery Act Green Retrofit Program in July and Donovan will tour ongoing construction on site. The Green Retrofit Program, created through the Recovery Act, provided 221 projects around the country with awards to reduce utility consumption, cut water consumption, improve indoor air quality, and generate savings for tens of thousands of affordable housing residents. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL), Congressman Alan Grayson (FL-8), and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join Donovan for the tour and press conference.

Reporters are asked to be in place ten minutes prior to the news conference.
