At a time when the foreclosure crisis has affected
communities all over the country, the City of Orlando has assisted two
qualified residents in realizing the dream of homeownership. The
Parramore Homebuyers Club and down payment assistance program are
providing real solutions for Orlando residents.
Mayor Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum will welcome
home two new residents to the Parramore Heritage Neighborhood. Johana
Perez is a 27- year-old single mother, and the first member of the
Parramore Homebuyers Club to purchase a home. The City of Orlando’s
Parramore Homebuyers Club is a comprehensive program of education and
peer support to prepare potential buyers for fulfilling the dream of
homeownership.
Germaine Washington is a 34- year-old single female
and the Information Technology Manager at the University of Central
Florida. Now, thanks to down payment assistance program available
through the City of Orlando, Ms. Washington was able to buy her first
home.
Through the City of Orlando’s Housing and Community
Development Department there are a variety of programs to increase and
preserve homeownership through financial assistance, alternative design
standards, low-interest loans, reduced fees and homebuyer counseling.
