Mayor Buddy Dyer Brings BAck the Blues

WHAT:

The City of Orlando’s Blues B-Q has quickly become one of Orlando’s most original events. Injecting the blues genre into the Downtown culture, this FREE blues festival has attracted music fans from across the state.

Mayor Buddy Dyer is proud to announce that GRAMMY Award winning artist Jonny Lang will be this year’s headline act. Lang, a former prodigy instrumentalist, topped the Billboard New Artist charts at the age of 15. Opening for Lang will be West Side Chicago bluesman Lil' Ed & the Blues Imperials, BB King’s All-Star Band and local blues band Smokin’ Torpedoes.

Blues B-Q is one of the City of Orlando’s four signature events and features national and local blues acts as well as Orlando’s finest mouth-watering barbeque available for purchase. Now in its third year, Blues B-Q boasts previous headline acts such as GRAMMY Award winning artists Buddy Guy, The Robert Cray Band and Queen of the Blues Koko Taylor.

Through a partnership with A Gift for Music, the City of Orlando is collecting stringed instruments at this year's Blues B-Q. A Gift for Music will collect violins, violas, cellos, basses and double basses at the event. Those that donate instruments will be entered in a drawing to win exclusive VIP Front Row Passes. Donated instruments benefit Orange County third, fourth and fifth graders who normally could not afford to be a part of a stringed instrument program.

NEW THIS YEAR:

The City of Orlando is partnering with Downtown businesses to offer Blues B-Q concert goers specials after the concert. Participating establishments are offering specials from free drinks to a percentage off food purchases. A list of participating establishments and their specials can be found at cityoforlando.net/bluesbq.

Blues B-Q attendees must pick up a Blues B-Q sticker* during the event and present it to the participating businesses in order to redeem the specials.

* Quantities are limited to the first 5,000 individuals. One sticker per-person.
