MAYOR BUDDY DYER JOINS EMPLOYEES AT
LEU GARDENS FOR WORK-ALONG
Mayor Dyer Rolls Up His Sleeves With City Employees
| WHAT: |
Mayor Dyer will discover some of the hidden
treasures at Leu Gardens as he “works-along” with the
horticulture staff. Harry P. Leu Gardens features three miles of
paved scenic walkways that take visitors through fifty acres of
southern styled gardens including America's largest Camellia
collection outside California, three acres of idea gardens for
weekend projects, the largest formal rose garden in Florida and
a house museum dating back to the 1880's.
In addition, they will plant caladiums in the
annual garden and trim trees that were donated as part of the
Leu Gardens reforestation efforts. Since the 2004 hurricane
season, the Leu Gardens staff has been working to repair damage
caused by the storms.
History of Work-Alongs
As part of Mayor Dyer’s commitment to
providing citizens with the high quality service they have come
to expect, he participates in monthly work-alongs with various
City staff. Mayor Dyer has worked with Code Enforcement
Officers, gone door-to-door with Orlando Police Officers
delivering valuable City information to residents in the
Parramore Heritage Neighborhood, assisted City staff and
children of the Nap Ford Community School in planting a
community garden and worked in the customer service and
development review areas of Permitting Services.
