MAYOR DYER ANNOUNCES ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
Orlando, FL (March 31, 2008) –
Today, Mayor Buddy Dyer announced two staff changes that will enhance
the administration and leadership of the City. Joe Robinson will
transition to the position of Special Assistant to the Mayor and Brie
Turek will assume the role of Chief of Staff.
With more than 25 years of service to the City and Orlando Police
Department (OPD), Joe will manage special projects and programs as
assigned by the Mayor’s Office with a focus on homeland security and
international relations.
“Joe brings an extraordinary set of experience to the leadership team in
all aspects of security, law enforcement and international affairs,”
said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “He possesses vast institutional
knowledge and I look forward to his continued service to the citizens of
Orlando.”
In addition to serving as liaison for the City’s Homeland Security
Advisory Board, Joe will coordinate with OPD and various agencies to
conduct security threat assessments for public buildings and
infrastructure in the City. Joe will also oversee the City’s
international relations efforts including the sister cities program,
diplomatic corps network and serve as liaison for the Mayor’s
International Advisory Committee.
Second, Brie Turek has been appointed as Chief of Staff to ensure our
vision and goals for the City are in-line with the needs of citizens and
community partners. As Chief of Staff, Brie will serve as strategic
advisor to the Mayor and direct staff on implementation of major policy
initiatives.
“Brie has played a pivotal role in this administration and successfully
managed strategic alliance initiatives for public safety, community
venues and economic development,” said Mayor Dyer. “I am confident in
Brie’s capable leadership and her ability to communicate policy matters
and citywide information in the most effective manner.”
Additionally, Brie will continue to serve as a liaison between the
Mayor's Office, City Commissioners and community partners, identifying
emerging issues of importance to the City and its citizens, and advising
on ways to address them.
Most recently, Brie was Deputy Chief of Staff prior to her appointment
as Chief of Staff. She also served as Press Secretary and primary
spokesperson for the Mayor and City in matters pertaining to public
policy, special events, emergency response and citywide initiatives.
