Bill Stevens
Aide to District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan
Bill Stevens was born and raised about an hour west of Chicago,
Illinois in the small town of Montgomery, Illinois. Bill worked many
years for Bell Laboratories (which eventually became AT&T and then
Lucent Technologies.) After an extensive career with Bell
Labs/AT&T/Lucent Technologies, Bill was able
to realize a lifelong dream and move to Central Florida. Bill’s
move to Florida in December, 2003 was just in time to experience the
three in a row hurricanes of 2004. Because of Bill’s calm, very
detailed and organized traits – he was thrust into the role of running
the Hurricane Control Center for his employer (in Property Management) at that time. And as Bill
would put it “It’s a life lesson learned in real time.”
Bill Stevens has also worked as the Assistant Managing Director for a
large luxury real estate company in downtown Orlando, before joining us
here at City Hall. This along with Bill’s other career experiences make
him a great asset to both Commissioner Sheehan and the residents of
District 4 whom he now serves. Bill has a can-do attitude, a great
mid-western work ethic and is always willing to take the time to talk
and work with the residents of District 4 and is genuinely concerned
about their needs.
The one thing that anyone who knows Bill will say about him is that
he is a Volunteer through and through. Bill has participated in Walks,
Runs and Bicycling events for causes like The American Cancer Society,
Special Olympics, the AIDS Walk, volunteering at a Senior Day Care Program,
was on the Board to save a historic home (in Warrenville, IL), Breast Cancer Awareness,
Food Drives for people in need, Toy and Clothing Drives for needy
children and one of the one’s closest to his heart – the SPCA/Humane
Society Walk. Bill is a huge animal lover and comes from, as he puts it
“a Big Dog Family”. He states that everyone in his family currently has
and always has had dogs and numerous other species of pets.
Bill’s hobbies include writing, collecting glass Christmas ornaments,
traveling and spending time with his Partner, Bob and their two Girls –
Bella (a mixed breed rescued dog) and Kahlua (a chocolate Lab).
Bill Stevens states “I am delighted to be working with Commissioner
Sheehan and serving the residents of District 4. It is a true honor to
be working here in The City Beautiful.”
