The next meeting of the District
2 Neighborhood Leaders Council will be on Thursday, July 19, 2012 starting at 6:30 pm. The meeting will
be at the Dover Shores Community Center.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday, May 17, 2012. During this
month's meeting, Commissioner Ortiz discussed his
immediate future plans for our district.
On Thursday, March 15, 2012, the District
2 Neighborhood Leaders Council members reunited for the
Grand Opening of the Park of the Americas' Community Room.
This room will be available to the Council members for
their homeowners and Neighborhood Watch meetings.
This park, located at 201 Andes Avenue,
will be going through a major restoration and will be open
to the public by 2013.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday,
January 19, 2012.
During this meeting Commissioner Ortiz
provided updates to the members. Mr. Jeffrey Arms,
City of Orlando, Public Works/Improvements gave updates,
showed pictures and described how the City and County
will use the 1.4M in FDOT funding to improve the
appearance along the Semoran Corridor (bigger sidewalks,
cement light polls and beautiful medians are among the
changes coming to the Semoran Corridor that will be
added by the end of the year).
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday,
November 17, 2011. Mrs. Alana Brenner, City of
Orlando Clerk, attended the meeting. Mrs. Kea
Council, from the Orlando Police Department Neighborhood
Watch Program, reminded the group to schedule their NW
meetings for next year. Commissioner Ortiz created a
circle with the leaders and they talked about the
possibility of them meeting with leaders from other
districts.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday, September 22, 2011. City of
Orlando Communications Department Director, Michele
Brennan, Assistant Director, Susan Harris and Neighborhood
Outreach Coordinator, Reggie Colimon facilitated a "Best
Practices" Strategy Session.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at
the Dover Shores Community Center.
FDOT gave a very informative
presentation about the SunRail and Downtown Development
Board explained what the CRA (Community Redevelopment
Agency) is and how those funds are used.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday, May
12, 2011 at the Engelwood Neighborhood Center.
Twelve neighborhoods were represented
during May's meeting.
Presentations were given by OPD
Neighborhood Watch Program; who reminded the members of
the National Night Out Against Crime coming up in August,
a presentation by Community Based Care of Central Florida;
they informed our members of the need for people
interested in adopting and becoming Foster Parents, and a
presentation and Q&A session by Commissioner Ortiz and Mr.
Mike Rhodes, City of Orlando Director of Code Enforcement.

with the Leaders his 2010 Accomplishments.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Engelwood
Neighborhood Center. A presentation by OUC was given
to the members. OUC presented several new programs
that are currently open to their customers: Home Energy
Fix-Up Program, Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, Finance
Insulation Program and Efficient Electric Heat Pump System

Instead of a meeting, District 2
Neighborhood Leaders Council and the Semoran
Business Partnership will
have a Holiday Get Together.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders
Council met on Thursday,
October 14, 2010. Mr. Joseph Monaco and Mr. Deveron
Gibbons gave a presentation about Amscot The Money
Superstore. Commissioner Ortiz gave updates related
to District 2 and some amendments were discussed.
The August meeting of the District 2
Neighborhood Council was held on Thursday, August 12, 2010
at the Orlando Police Department Training Center/Gun Range
located at 100 Andes Avenue. Neighborhood Leaders were
able to take a tour of the Gun Range. See pictures

Neighborhood Leaders' and Business Owners Councils took
place on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Mr. Bruce

The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders'
Council met on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Engelwood
Community Center. Presentations were given by Mrs.
Alexis Jackson, Director of Communications for the Dr. P.
Phillips Performing Arts Center and by Mr. Manny Soto,
City of Orlando Emergency Manager who talked about
Hurricane Season.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders'
Council met on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Dover Shore
Community Center. A presentation by Orlando Fire
Department, Vicki Robles, related to the CERT program was
given to the members. Commissioner Ortiz also gave a
presentation related to the Sun Rail.
The District 2 Neighborhood Leaders'
Council met on January 14, 2010
at the Engelwood Community Center. A presentation of
Lake Eola Park was presented by Leo Falcon, Manager of
Lake Eola Park. Commissioner Tony Ortiz introduced
Orlando Police Officer, Eddie Rosado. He is the new
District 2 Liaison Officer.
The seventh meeting of the District 2
Neighborhood Leaders' Council Meeting was held on
Thursday, November12, 2009 at the Dover Shores Community
Center. Twelve different neighborhoods were
represented during the meeting. A presentation by
the IRS was given to the group and Commissioner Ortiz
updated the leaders on the projects that he is working on.

The sixth meeting
of the District 2 Neighborhood Leaders' Council was held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at
the Engelwood Community Center. Commissioner Ortiz's
future vision of the Semoran Boulevard area was
given to the leaders and also Jackson Middle School SAFE
Coordinator, Barbara Lopez, gave a special presentation
about needy families from the school.
The
fifth meeting of the District 2 Neighborhood Leaders'
Council was held on
Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Dover Shores Community Center.
Fourteen Neighborhood Leaders attended the meeting.
A presentation was given by Malisa McCreedy related to
Family, Parks & Recreation Department and another
presentation by Manny Soto was given in reference to
Hurricane Preparedness.
The fourth meeting of the District 2 Neighborhood Leaders'
Council meeting was held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Engelwood
Community Center. Fifteen representatives
from different communities got together for an evening of
sharing information and ideas. The council meets every
other month.
