Commissioner Diamond Plants the 9,994th
Tree as Part of the City's 10,000 Trees Initiative
Commissioner Phil
Diamond, along with Mayor Buddy Dyer and the other City Commissioners,
participated in the City of Orlando 10,000 Trees Initiative during the
week of December 14, 2009. In 2004, Hurricanes Charley, Frances
and Jeanne wreaked devastation to the City's urban tree canopy. In
2005, the City began its 10,000 Trees Initiative with the goal of
replacing 10,000 trees by 2010. Commissioner Diamond planted a
tree in Delaney Park and the final tree was planted by Mayor Dyer in
Wadeview Park.
