GARDEN EXHIBIT: The outstanding black and
white photography of Kissimmee artist Kristin Wessling will
be exhibited in the Garden House Gallery of Harry P. Leu
Gardens. Of her work Kristin explains, ’I spent my childhood
divided among, Washington DC, Cedar Rapids Iowa and
Cincinnati Ohio. I moved to Florida as a young adult and
became immediately enchanted with the tropical feel, the
hammocks and marshes, the pines and hibiscus, the humid air
the smell of orange blossoms in February. And though I have
now spent over a decade as a Floridian I am still completely
mesmerized by its beauty.
My goal for this exhibition was to share
my view of this amazing place in a way that captured its
beauty and uniqueness. I love black and white and the way it
accentuates light and form. In a world where we are
bombarded with color, black and white feels like a soft
place to rest and relax. It’s innate simplicity and grace
lets the subject truly be the subject.
I have loved photography and nature for as
long as I can remember. This show is sincerely a window to
my soul, my vision, and my joy. I am extremely grateful for
the opportunity to exhibit my work here at Leu Gardens, as
this is where I come to free my mind after a long job and
find inspiration when I have run dry. There is certain magic
in these wild acres of Camellias and trees along the shores
of Lake Rowena.’
